Bamboo light and shadow

Bamboo grid lantern lamp glowing on a desk beside an open book

A warm glow on a desk or nightstand

Set it on a nightstand or a desk and switch it on in the evening. The light through the bamboo is softer than a bare shade and leaves a pattern on the wall behind it. It's small enough to share the space with a book and a cup.

Lit woven bamboo dome lamp casting a lattice pattern on the wall

Open bamboo, two ways

The grid lantern is a square bamboo frame with an irregular lattice over a pale inner shade, so it glows evenly from every side. The woven dome is a rounder shade of crossed bamboo strips on a round wooden base, and throws a stronger lattice of light and shadow across the wall.

Description

A small table lamp made from bamboo. When it's lit, the light falls through the open bamboo and throws a soft pattern of light and shadow across the table and the wall, the way a lantern does. It's compact enough for a nightstand, a desk or a shelf.

Choose the grid lantern, a square, open bamboo frame 5.9 x 5.9 x 9.8 inches tall, or the woven dome, 7.9 inches across and 9.1 inches tall, for a rounder, more textured glow.

It plugs into a wall outlet with a standard US plug, 110 to 120V. The bulb is not included. Supplied as one lamp. Free shipping within the US.

Does it come with a bulb?

No, the bulb is not included, so you add your own.

Does it work with US outlets?

Yes. It plugs into a regular wall outlet with a standard US plug, 110 to 120V.

How big is each style?

The grid lantern is 5.9 x 5.9 inches and 9.8 inches tall. The woven dome is 7.9 inches across and 9.1 inches tall. Both fit on a standard nightstand.

Which style gives more pattern on the wall?

The woven dome. Its crossed bamboo strips throw a stronger lattice of light and shadow. The grid lantern has a pale inner shade behind the lattice and gives a softer, even glow.

How do I clean and care for it?

Dust the bamboo with a soft, dry brush or a hair dryer on the cool setting every week or two, since dust settles in the open weave.

Unplug the lamp and let the bulb cool before you clean it. For a mark, use a cloth that's barely damp and dry the bamboo right away. Don't use sprays or water on the shade.

It's made for indoor use. Keep it away from a bathroom, a humid window ledge or direct sun, which can dry out or discolor the bamboo.

How long does shipping take?

Orders ship within 1 to 4 business days and arrive in 7 to 12 business days in total. Shipping is free within the US.

Is this lamp UL or ETL listed?

No, our lamps are not UL or ETL listed. They are made for standard US outlets (110 to 120V), and plug-in models come with a US plug, so they are ready to use at home.

If your project needs listed fixtures, for example permitted work, a commercial space or an electrician who only installs certified equipment, please check with us before you order. Hardwired lights should always be installed by a licensed electrician.
