A handmade ceramic storage jar meant to stay out on the counter or an open shelf, next to the kettle or the stove. Fill it with the loose tea you brew every morning, coffee beans, or the spices and herbs you reach for most nights.

The fitted lid sits down inside the rim and has a loop of hemp rope in the center, which gives you something soft to grip when you lift the lid off. The rope is for the lid only, so pick up the jar itself by its body. There's no clamp or screw thread, so use it for dry ingredients, not liquids.

Choose Brushed (brown and gold streaks, a bit like wood grain), Natural (a sandy beige matte glaze) or Dark (a matte charcoal black). Since each jar is made by hand, the glaze and the rings vary a little from piece to piece. Wash it by hand and keep it out of the dishwasher, oven and microwave. Free shipping within the US.

Does the lid keep tea and spices fresh?

Not exactly. Each jar is handmade, so the glaze, the brush marks and the rings vary a little from piece to piece. That variation comes from the handwork and is not a defect.

How do I clean and care for it?

Wipe the outside with a soft dry cloth every week or two. Empty the jar before you clean the inside, and dust out crumbs of tea or spice with a dry brush.

For stains or oil marks, wash the ceramic by hand with warm water and a little mild soap, then let it dry completely before you refill it. Dishwasher safety is not stated, so keep it out of the dishwasher, and keep the rope loop dry.

Store it away from the steam of a kettle or a pot, and do not put it on a hot stove or in the oven or the microwave.
