In the room

A desk surface that gets better with use

Brown leather desk mat under a laptop, phone and coffee cup on a desk

One warm surface for the whole setup

Lay it under the laptop, keyboard and mouse and the desk gets one soft, quiet surface instead of hard wood or glass. A mug or a phone set down on leather doesn't clatter, and the desk underneath stays free of scratches and cup rings.

Coffee brown crazy horse leather desk mat half rolled up on white

Crazy horse leather that builds a patina

The mat is one piece of genuine cowhide, waxed and oiled in the crazy horse style, with a line of stitching around the edge. Scratches show as paler lines at first and darken back as the oils move, so over months the surface takes on a look of its own. It's flexible enough to roll up when you travel.

Description

A leather desk mat cut from one piece of genuine cowhide in a crazy horse finish, the waxed and oiled leather that darkens and softens with use. It works as a desk pad and a large mouse pad in one, so your laptop, keyboard and mouse share one warm, quiet surface, and the desk underneath stays free of scratches and cup rings.

Crazy horse leather is supposed to change. Light scratches and pressure marks show up as paler lines at first, then darken back into the surface as the oils move, so over a few months the mat builds a patina of its own. The color is coffee brown with a stitched edge, and because every mat comes from a real hide, the markings and tone vary a little from one to the next.

The leather is about 0.1 inch thick, soft enough to roll up for storage or travel and heavy enough to lie flat once it settles. Pick 23.6 x 15.7 inches for a laptop and mouse, 31.5 x 15.7 inches for a full keyboard and mouse, or 35.4 x 17.7 inches for a keyboard, mouse and laptop side by side. Free shipping within the US.

Which size do I need?

Measure the space in front of your chair. The 23.6 x 15.7 inch mat fits a laptop with a mouse beside it. The 31.5 x 15.7 inch mat takes a full keyboard and a mouse. The 35.4 x 17.7 inch mat covers a wider stretch for a keyboard, mouse and laptop together.

Will it show scratches?

Yes, at first. Crazy horse leather shows light scratches and pressure marks as paler lines, and they darken back into the surface as the oils move. That's the patina the leather is chosen for.

Is it real leather?

Yes. It's genuine cowhide, cut from a single piece, so markings and tone vary from mat to mat.

Will it lie flat?

It arrives rolled, so give it a little time on the desk. At about 0.1 inch thick it's heavy enough to lie flat once it settles.

How do I clean and care for it?

Wipe it with a dry or barely damp cloth once a week to clear dust and crumbs.

Blot spills right away with a dry cloth rather than rubbing, and let the spot dry on its own. Skip household cleaners and sprays on the leather.

Keep it away from long periods of direct sun, which can fade and dry out the leather. Roll it, don't fold it, when you store it.

How long does shipping take?

Orders ship within 1 to 4 business days and arrive in 7 to 12 business days in total. Shipping is free within the US.
