The light has no dimmer of its own. It dims if you put a dimmable bulb in it and run it off a compatible wall dimmer. A regular LED bulb on a dimmer will buzz or flicker, so check the bulb packaging before you buy one.

Most people leave 30 to 36 inches between the tabletop and the bottom of the shade. That keeps the bulb out of your eye line when you sit down. The cord is 59 inches and you shorten it while installing, so you decide the exact drop.

The 9.84 inch shade fits a hallway, a bedside corner or a reading nook. Pick the 15.35 inch one if it hangs alone above a dining table, where a small shade tends to look lost. Over a long kitchen island, two or three of the large size in a row work better than a single one.
