Description

A handmade ceramic storage jar with straight sides, rounded shoulders, a short neck and a flat ceramic lid. It's a kitchen canister you can leave out on the counter or an open shelf, for loose tea, coffee beans, sugar or anything you want within reach.

Each jar is made by hand, so the glaze runs and settles a little differently from one jar to the next. Pale clay is a soft clay tone with swirls of pink and brown, iron is a dark gray with a bronze band, and moss is a glossy olive with streaks of plum.

The small jar is 3.2 inches across and 4.7 inches tall and holds about 15.2 fl oz. The medium is 4.3 inches across and 5.7 inches tall, about 32.1 fl oz. The large is 5.8 inches across and 7.5 inches tall, about 74.4 fl oz. Tea, scoops and furniture in the photos are not included. Free shipping within the US.

Is the lid airtight?

The supplier describes it as a fitted ceramic lid. There's no seal or gasket, so treat it as a dust cover rather than an airtight canister, and keep coffee or tea you want to stay fresh for weeks in its bag inside the jar.

The small holds about 15.2 fl oz, enough for loose tea or a spice. The medium holds about 32.1 fl oz, about a bag of coffee beans. The large holds about 74.4 fl oz for sugar, rice or oats.

The shape and glaze will match, but the pattern won't be identical. Each jar is made and glazed by hand, so the swirls, bands and streaks sit a little differently on every one.

Can I store food in it?

Yes, it's made as a kitchen canister for dry goods like loose tea, coffee beans and sugar. It isn't meant for liquids.

How do I clean and care for it?

Empty the jar and wipe the inside with a dry cloth between refills. Every few weeks, wash the jar and lid by hand in warm water with a little mild dish soap.

Let both dry completely before you fill the jar again, so no moisture gets into tea or coffee. Skip scouring pads, which can dull the glaze.

Keep it on a stable shelf or counter away from the edge. It's ceramic, so a fall onto a hard floor can chip or crack it.
