In the room

Made for whisking, not just for show

A proper bowl of matcha at home

Sift the powder through the steel sieve so it goes in without lumps, add hot water and whisk in a quick zigzag until it foams. The bowl is wide enough to work the whisk properly, and the spout lets you pour into a cup if you'd rather not drink from the bowl. When you're done, the whisk goes back on its holder to dry.

A drip glaze that differs on every bowl

The bowl and the whisk holder are ceramic with a glaze that runs as it's fired, so no two are marked quite the same. The holder comes in the same glaze as the bowl. The whisk, scoop and spoon are bamboo, and the sieve is fine stainless steel mesh.

Description

A complete matcha tea set with everything you need to make a proper bowl at home: a drip glazed ceramic bowl with a pouring spout, a matching ceramic whisk holder, a bamboo whisk, a curved bamboo scoop, a bamboo spoon and a fine stainless steel sieve.

The bowl is 5.1 inches across and 3.1 inches tall, or 5.5 inches including the spout. That's wide enough to work the whisk properly, and the spout lets you pour into a cup if you'd rather not drink from the bowl. The glaze runs as it's fired, so every bowl and holder is marked a little differently. Choose cream, sea green or blue.

Sift the powder first so it goes in without lumps, whisk, then stand the whisk on its holder so the tines dry in shape. Matcha powder is not included. Free shipping within the US.

What comes in the set?

Six pieces: a ceramic bowl with a pouring spout, a ceramic whisk holder in the same glaze, a bamboo whisk, a curved bamboo scoop, a bamboo spoon and a stainless steel sieve. Matcha powder is not included.

How big is the bowl?

It's 5.1 inches across and 3.1 inches tall, or 5.5 inches across including the spout. That's wide enough to work the whisk properly.

Why does the whisk need a holder?

Bamboo tines lose their curve if the whisk dries lying on its side. Standing it upside down on the ceramic holder after rinsing lets the tines dry in shape.

Will my set look exactly like the photos?

Close, but not exactly. The glaze runs as it's fired, so every bowl and holder is marked a little differently from the ones in the photos.

How do I clean and care for it?

Rinse the bowl, whisk and sieve in warm water right after use, before the matcha dries on. Let the whisk dry standing upside down on its holder.

Skip soap on the bamboo whisk, scoop and spoon, and keep them out of the dishwasher. Wash the ceramic bowl by hand with a little mild dish soap.

Keep the bamboo pieces somewhere dry and out of direct sun between uses. Handle the bowl like any glazed ceramic, since it can chip if it's knocked against a hard sink.

How long does shipping take?

Orders ship within 1 to 4 business days and arrive in 7 to 12 business days in total. Shipping is free within the US.
