A board with real weight

Teak end grain cutting board on a kitchen counter with vegetables

Stays put while you chop

At 1 inch thick and up to 5.7 lb, the board doesn't slide around when you cut through onions or carve a roast, and the non slip feet keep it steady on the counter. When dinner is ready it goes straight to the table as a serving board, and the recessed grips make it easy to lift.

End grain teak, block by block

Small blocks of teak are glued with the grain standing upright, so you see the ends of the growth rings in golden and dark brown. The pattern shifts from block to block, so no two boards are the same. A recessed grip is cut into the sides for lifting.

Description

A heavy end grain cutting board made from teak. Small blocks of wood are set with the grain standing upright, so the top shows a pattern of growth rings in golden and dark brown, and every board looks a little different. Use it for daily prep on the counter, or bring it to the table with bread, cheese or a roast.

It's 1 inch thick and has real weight to it, so it stays put while you chop. The large board is 16.5 x 11.8 inches and weighs about 5.7 lb. The small board is 13.4 x 9.4 inches and weighs about 3.6 lb. A recessed grip along the sides lets you lift it off the counter, and small non slip feet sit underneath.

Oil the board before first use, then wipe it clean after cooking and oil it again whenever the wood looks dry. Free shipping within the US.

Which size should I choose?

The large board, 16.5 x 11.8 inches, gives you room to chop a full meal or carve a roast. The small one, 13.4 x 9.4 inches, suits everyday prep and a smaller counter. Both are 1 inch thick.

Why end grain?

On an end grain board the knife edge goes between the wood fibers instead of across them, which is gentler on your knives. It also gives the top its checkered pattern of growth rings.

Does it need oiling?

Yes. Oil it before you use it for the first time, and again whenever the wood looks dry or pale. Food safe mineral oil or a board oil works well.

Will it slide on the counter?

No. It's heavy, up to about 5.7 lb, and has small non slip feet underneath that hold it in place.

How do I clean and care for it?

Wipe it with a damp cloth and a little mild dish soap after each use, rinse, and dry it standing on its side so air reaches both faces.

Never soak it or put it in the dishwasher, since standing water can make end grain swell and crack. For smells, rub the top with coarse salt and half a lemon, then rinse and dry.

Oil it every few weeks, or whenever the wood looks dry, and keep it away from the stove and direct heat.

How long does shipping take?

Orders ship within 1 to 4 business days and arrive in 7 to 12 business days in total. Shipping is free within the US.
