The base is 4.7 by 1.8 in, so it covers a standard junction box and little else. The arm is a proper stiff gooseneck rather than a hinge, which is why it holds any angle instead of settling back to one of three positions.

How far it comes off the wall
The arm is 15.7 in of bendable gooseneck. Straightened out it reaches past the front edge of a normal nightstand, which is what you want if you read sitting up. Curled back it tucks almost flat against the wall.
Mount it around 52 in above the floor beside a bed, or about 20 in above a desktop. Higher spreads the beam wider and softer, lower makes it tighter and brighter on the page.

Indoor only. The head and arm run warm to the touch after an hour, the same as any small LED fixture.
Putting it up
- Switch the circuit off at the breaker and check the wires are dead before you touch anything.
- Hold the base against the wall at the height you want, mark the two holes, drill and set the anchors.
- Connect live to live, neutral to neutral and ground to ground, then screw the base to the wall.
- Turn the power back on and bend the arm where you want it. Support the base with one hand the first time, the gooseneck is stiffer than it looks.
There is no plug and no cord. It wires into a junction box and switches from the wall, so if there is no box where you want it, an electrician has to run one first.

Does it plug in?
No. It is hardwired, so it connects to a junction box in the wall and switches from a wall switch. If you are replacing an existing sconce it is a straight swap. If there is no box where you want it, an electrician needs to run one.
Does the arm hold its position?
Yes. The gooseneck is stiff enough that it stays where you bend it and does not creep back over the night. It takes a firm hand to move, which is the trade off you want on a light you aim once and leave.
Is it bright enough to read by?
Yes, for a book or a laptop at arm's length. It is a task light, so it puts a concentrated warm beam on the page rather than filling the room. If you want to light a whole bedroom, this is the wrong fixture.
Which finish should I pick?
Match the metal you already have in the room. Chrome next to white walls and black frames, Bronze next to wood and warm plaster, Nickel when the hardware in the room is mixed and you want the light to stay quiet.
How high should I mount it?
Beside a bed, about 52 in above the floor works for most people sitting up against the headboard. Above a desk, about 20 in above the desktop. Mount it a little high rather than a little low, because the arm bends down easily and does not bend up as far.
Can I dim it?
No. The LED is not dimmable, and putting it on a dimmer switch can make it flicker or buzz. Run it on a normal switch.
Can I use it outside or in a bathroom?
No. This one is indoor only and has no moisture rating, so keep it out of bathrooms, covered porches and anywhere it can get damp.
