Description

A wall sconce with a natural wood backplate and a metal dome shade that tilts up and down, so you can aim the light at a book or turn it up the wall for a softer glow. The backplate is real wood, so the grain looks a little different on every piece. At 5.5 inches wide and 8.1 inches tall, it fits the wall beside a bed, a reading chair or a hallway.

The shade comes in white, gray, pink, yellow or olive, and you can order it with or without a pull chain. The chain lets you switch the light on and off at the fixture, which helps beside a bed or anywhere there's no wall switch nearby. Both versions are hardwired: the sconce mounts over a wall box and connects to standard 110-120V house wiring, with no plug or cord.

It takes one E27 screw-in bulb, which isn't included. The fixture has no dimmer of its own, so it only dims with a dimmable bulb on a circuit that already has a dimmer switch. It's made for dry indoor walls, so keep it out of bathrooms with a shower and off outside walls. Free shipping within the US.

Does it plug into an outlet or does it need wiring?

It wires in. The sconce mounts to a junction box or wall anchors and connects to house wiring, the same as a ceiling fixture. There is no plug and no cord. If you want a plug in wall light, this is not the one.

What does the pull chain version change?

The chain lets you switch the light at the fixture instead of at a wall switch. It is useful beside a bed or in a hallway with no switch nearby. It does not change the wiring, both versions still connect to house wiring.

Is a bulb included?

No. The socket takes any standard E27 bulb on 110 to 120V, so you choose the brightness and the color temperature. A 4W to 6W LED around 2700K gives the warm reading light most people are after.

Can I dim it?

Only if you use a dimmable bulb on a circuit that already has a dimmer switch. The fixture itself has no dimmer, and the pull chain is on or off, not variable.

Can I put it in a bathroom or outside?

No. It is rated for indoor use on dry walls. Steam, splashes and weather are outside what it is built for, so keep it out of shower zones and off exterior walls.

How do I clean and care for it?

Dust the wood backplate and the metal shade every week or two with a dry or barely damp cloth. Skip cleaning sprays and oil soap on the wood.

For a mark on the shade, switch the light off and let the bulb cool before you touch it. Then wipe it with a soft damp cloth and dry it right away. Before you fit a brighter bulb, check its wattage against the sticker inside the fixture.

Keep it on a dry indoor wall, away from shower zones and exterior walls.
