In the room

A solar lantern that lays a pattern of light around it

Hang it from a hook or set it on the ground

The handle lets you hang the lantern from a shepherd hook, a branch or a bracket, and the flat base stands on a table, a step or the ground. It runs on sunlight, so there is no cord to plan around and you can move it to wherever you sit that evening. It suits a garden, patio, balcony, terrace, poolside or entryway.

Openwork iron with a copper finish

The body is iron, cut into an openwork pattern and plated in copper. After dark the built in LED shines through the cutouts and lays the same pattern on the surface around the lantern. The solar panel sits flat in the lid, so you do not see it from the side.

Description

A solar lantern with an openwork metal body that throws its cutout pattern onto the table, steps or ground around it after dark. The handle lets you hang it from a shepherd hook, a branch or a bracket, or you can stand it on a table, a step or the ground.

The body is iron with a copper-plated finish, 9.3 inches tall and 5.1 inches across. A solar panel sits flat in the lid and charges it during the day, and the LED is built in, so there's no bulb to buy and no wiring. A full charge takes 8 to 12 hours of direct sun, so give it a sunny spot.

It's rated IP44, which covers splashes and rain, so it can stay outside, but don't leave it standing in water. It also works indoors as a decorative light if it can charge in a sunny window. No assembly needed. Free shipping within the US.

Does it need wiring or a power outlet?

No. It is solar powered. The polysilicon panel in the lid charges it during the day, so there is no wiring, no plug and no assembly. It arrives ready to put outside.

How long does it stay lit?

About 8 to 10 hours per charge. A full charge takes 8 to 12 hours in full sun, so give it a spot that gets direct sunlight for most of the day. After a gray day it will run for a shorter time.

Can it stay outside when it rains?

Yes. It is rated IP44, which means it is splash and rain resistant. It is not made to sit in standing water or to be submerged.

Can I use it indoors?

Yes, it works as a decorative light indoors. It still needs sun to charge, so set it in a sunny window or let it charge outside during the day.

Is the light source included?

Yes. The LED is integrated and included, so there is no bulb to buy.

How do I clean and care for it?

Wipe the solar panel on the lid with a soft damp cloth every couple of weeks. A dusty panel charges more slowly, and that shortens the time the lantern stays lit.

Switch the lantern off before you clean the body. Brush leaves and cobwebs out of the openwork with a soft dry brush, and wipe the copper finish with a dry cloth. Skip scouring pads and metal polish, which can wear through the plating.

It can hang or stand outdoors in rain. Do not leave it in a puddle, and do not spray it with a hose at close range.

How long does shipping take?

Orders are processed in 1 to 4 business days, and delivery takes 7 to 12 business days in total.

Is this lamp UL or ETL listed?

No, our lamps are not UL or ETL listed. They are made for standard US outlets (110 to 120V), and plug-in models come with a US plug, so they are ready to use at home.

If your project needs listed fixtures, for example permitted work, a commercial space or an electrician who only installs certified equipment, please check with us before you order. Hardwired lights should always be installed by a licensed electrician.
