Mount one on each side of the bed and the dome sends the light down onto the nightstand, a low light for the end of the day without switching on the ceiling light. It works the same way along a hallway or on an entryway wall, where a soft pool of light helps more than a bright overhead one.

A glossy shade on a tall rounded backplate

The dome is metal with a glossy red orange finish that catches the light even when the lamp is off. It sits on a short arm in front of a tall, rounded dark red backplate with a brass inner panel and a small brass knob near the bottom. With the bulb on, the light comes out of the open underside of the dome.

A vintage wall sconce with a glossy red orange metal dome on a short arm, in front of a tall rounded dark red backplate with brass details. The dome is open underneath, so the light falls down the wall and onto a nightstand or entry table below instead of into your eyes.

It measures 7.8 inches wide and 7.8 inches tall overall, small enough for the wall beside a bed or along a hallway. Mount one on each side of the bed for a low evening light without switching on the ceiling light.

It's hardwired to a wall junction box on 110-120V, with no plug or cord. If you haven't wired a light before, have an electrician install it. It takes one E26 bulb, not included, and dims if you use a dimmable bulb with a dimmer switch. For indoor use. In a bathroom, keep it away from the shower and tub. Free shipping within the US.

How is it installed?

It is hardwired to a wall junction box and runs on 110 to 120V. There is no plug or cord. If you have not wired a light fixture before, have a licensed electrician install it.

Which bulb does it take, and is one included?

It takes an E26 or E27 bulb, so a standard US E26 bulb fits. A bulb is not included, so order one along with the sconce.

Can I dim it?

Yes, if you use a dimmable bulb and wire the sconce to a dimmer switch. With a regular bulb it works as a simple on and off light.

How big is it?

It measures 7.8 in / 20 cm across and 7.8 in / 20 cm high overall, measured as in the drawing above. That is compact enough for the narrow wall beside a bed or along a hallway.

Can I use it in a bathroom?

The bathroom is one of the listed rooms, but no IP or damp rating is listed, so do not place it right above a shower or a tub. Mount it on a wall away from water spray.

How do I clean and care for it?

Dust the dome and the backplate with a soft dry cloth every week or two. The glossy finish shows dust and fingerprints, so a quick wipe keeps it bright.

For marks, switch the light off and let the bulb cool. Wipe with a slightly damp cloth and dry it straight away. Skip abrasive cleaners and metal polish, which can dull the gloss and the brass.

It is for indoor use. In a bathroom, keep it away from the shower and the tub, and do not mount it outdoors.
